Trekology UL80 Inflatable Sleeping Pad Review
The UL80 sells on thickness. Ten centimetres of air keeps a side sleeper's hip off the ground, and the price is low, but its warmth figure is an estimate.
The verdictA lot of thickness for little money. The warmth is an estimate and the weight has crept up, so it suits mild nights.
Trekology makes the UL80 10 cm thick, which is the reason side sleepers buy it. A hip that bottoms out on a thinner pad stays clear of the ground on this one. The current version uses 40D nylon and a larger valve, and Trekology lists it at 750 g, packing to 18.5 x 12 cm.
The warmth figure needs reading carefully. Trekology gives an estimated R-value of 1.6 to 2 and names no test method, so it cannot be compared directly with an ASTM figure from another maker. Treat it as a summer pad, and add a foam mat underneath before trusting it on a cold November night.
The weight on older listings and reviews is lower than the current figure. Trekology's own store gives 26.5 oz, or 750 g, for this version, against the 560 g some older pages still quote. That makes it about 220 g heavier than the Klymit Static V, and its packed size is larger too.
Owners on Amazon US gave it 4.4 stars from 6,557 ratings in October, with 6 percent one-star, and slow leaks are the usual complaint. It inflates by mouth unless you buy Trekology's pump sack separately. Trekology's published policy is a 30-day return for unused items, and we found no written warranty beyond that.
