Naturehike 27oz Ultralight Sleeping Pad (R4.6) Review
Naturehike sits between the no-name pads and the premium ones, and this is their three-season insulated option at a price that does not require a decision.
The verdictA sensible middle option from a brand this site has stocked repeatedly. Heavier than the competition for its R-value, and easier to trust than a first-time seller.
A 4.6 R-value is the sweet spot for three-season bikepacking: enough for frosty ground in spring and autumn, without paying the weight and money that winter-rated pads demand. For most riders on most trips this is the correct amount of insulation rather than the maximum available.
Naturehike's advantage here is boring and real. The brand already supplies several of this site's budget shelter picks, the construction standards are consistent, and there is enough history to know how their gear ages. That is worth something against a pad with seven reviews and a nine R-value claim.
The weight is the cost. At 650 grams for the 186 x 58 cm size, or about 750 grams with its bag and strap, it is well over 200 grams heavier than the lightest pads at a similar R-value, which on a bike is a real difference once the seatpack is full. Packed size is also towards the larger end of the inflatable pads here.
Review volume is still modest, 163 ratings on Amazon US in October, so the long-run picture is less settled than for pads with a longer record. Most reports are positive, but the low-star ones include a slow leak after a month blamed on the valve, which is one of the two places an inflatable pad usually fails.
Packed size is worth checking against your seatpack before ordering. This one rolls larger than the ApolloAir despite carrying less insulation, and on a bike the pad and the quilt are competing for exactly the same litres at the bottom of the bag.
