Klymit Static V Sleeping Pad Review
The Static V is Klymit's long-running entry pad, sold on its own site as the Static V Base. The V-chambers and raised side rails are what you pay for, and warmth is what you give up.
The verdictA durable, packable summer pad. Below about 7°C ground temperature it is the wrong pad, whatever the bag.
The Amazon US listing, sold and shipped by Amazon, gives 18.6 oz packed, a 3 by 8 inch packed size, 75D polyester and 72 by 23 by 2.5 inches inflated, filled in 10 to 15 breaths. Klymit's own page for the same pad, now called the Static V Base, gives 530 g, 183 by 58 by 6.4 cm and an ASTM R-value of 1.3 at $49.95. The 75D fabric is heavier than most ultralight pads use, which is where the weight goes and why it tolerates rough ground.
The V-chambers limit air movement and the raised side rails keep a side sleeper centred, and at 20 by 8 cm packed it slides into a half-full frame bag. The R-value is the limit. At 1.3 this is a summer pad, and below roughly 7°C ground temperature you lose heat downwards faster than any bag above can replace it.
Owner reports stood at 4.3 stars across 1,072 ratings in October 2026, and owners who took it on week-long trips report it holding up. The complaints are warmth (one owner limits it to nights above 10°C), noise when you move, and the corner twist valve on recent stock. Against the Trekology UL80 it is 220 g lighter and $7.72 dearer, with 6.4 cm of thickness against 10 cm.
