KEMIMOTO Waterproof Bike Pannier 2-Pack (60L) Review
The KEMIMOTO pair is the volume play on this page: 60 litres across two bags, at a third of what the Ortlieb equivalent costs.
The verdictThe best value double-pannier set on the market. Genuine waterproofing at a bargain price.
Sixty litres across a pair is more than most bikepacking trips need and exactly right for the ones that do: winter kit, a week of food, or a rider carrying for two. At eighty dollars for the pair it undercuts every comparable-volume option on this page by a wide margin, and the laptop sleeve makes it a credible commuting bag on the days it is not touring.
The installation uses a universal buckle and strap system that fits nearly any rear rack. While the mounting hardware is not as sophisticated as high-end quick-release systems, it stays remarkably stable once it is tightened down. The coating resists road grime and oil better than the price suggests. If you are starting from scratch and need total storage on a budget, this set is the obvious winner.
The arithmetic against the rest of this list is stark. At $79.98 for 60L across the pair this is about $1.33 a litre, where the Ortlieb Back-Roller Classic is close to $5.00 a litre for 40L. What the Ortlieb buys at that premium is a warranty, a mounting system with decades of iteration behind it, and a body of owner evidence this pair does not have.
What the Ortlieb money buys is the mounting: Quick-Lock 2.1 clamps onto the rail and releases with the handle, where this uses universal buckles and straps that you tension by hand and re-check after rough sections. That is the whole difference, and for a rider who mounts the bags once at the start of a tour rather than twice a day for a commute, it is a difference worth weighing against the $119 gap.
What works
- Immense storage for the price
- 100% waterproof construction
- Universal strap mounting
What doesn't
- Buckles are slower than hooks
- Basic internal space
- Can be wide for some racks
Buy it if
- Expedition Tours: 60L of combined storage for long trips.
- Extreme Value: Unbeatable price for two waterproof bags.
- Off-Road Mud: PVC material is incredibly easy to clean.
Skip it if
- You need to remove the bags daily (straps are slower than hooks).
- You have a very small bike where the 24L bags might cause heel strike.
