The Ascher set has more owner ratings than almost any bike light on Amazon, and its 300 lumen claim matches its battery. That record also shows the failures clearly.
The verdictA cheap set with honest numbers and a huge owner record. 300 lumens is a be-seen light, and the record shows many fail within months.
The listing gives the front light 300 lumens from a 2,000 mAh cell, running 5 to 12 hours by mode, and the rear a 330 mAh cell for 9 to 16 hours. Both are rated IPX4 against splashes and mount with silicone straps, the front rotating 360 degrees and the rear tilting. The pair weighs 3.5 oz in all.
Those figures hang together. Scaled from a premium light's output per watt-hour, 300 lumens for 5 hours fits a 2,000 mAh cell almost exactly, which is more than most budget lights can say. But 300 lumens is below the 400 to 600 lumen working range for unlit gravel, so this is a light for being seen.
The size of the owner record is the reason to read it closely. Owners on Amazon US gave it 4.4 stars from 32,845 ratings in October, with 8 percent at one or two stars, and Amazon's review summary counts most durability and battery-life mentions as negative. It describes front lights that stopped working within a month or two.
At $16.99 when we checked in August, a failure is cheap to replace, and the listing offers replacement brackets. The charging port is not named, and the listing photos appear to show micro-USB rather than USB-C, so check the cable before a trip.
