Moosetreks Trail Mountain Bike Full Frame Bag Review

Identical in construction to the road version and different where it matters, which is the shape of the triangle it is trying to fill.

Moosetreks Trail Mountain Bike Full Frame Bag — Full Frame
The verdict

The correct version of this bag for a mountain or adventure frame. Buying the road cut for a trail triangle leaves dead space, which is the whole point of two versions existing.

Mountain and adventure frames have a taller, shorter triangle than road and gravel frames, and a bag cut for one leaves a wedge of unusable space in the other. That dead space is not merely wasted, it lets the contents shift, which is what produces the sway riders blame on the straps.

Construction matches the road version, with multi-point strap mounting and a full-length zip, and the same three-size approach applies across small, medium and large. Measuring the triangle before ordering is the step that decides whether this bag is excellent or merely acceptable, because a full-frame bag that does not match its frame is neither.

The same trade applies. In-frame bottle cages are gone, so hydration moves to the fork or the bars. On a hardtail with suspension travel there is also less clearance than the numbers suggest, and owner reports mention checking for shock or cable fouling before committing.

Dropper post routing deserves a check before ordering. Externally routed droppers cross exactly the space this bag wants to occupy, and while the multi-point mounting can usually be worked around them, the cable then rubs against the bag rather than the frame. Riders with external routing generally report better results with a half-frame bag.

What works

  • Cut for mountain and adventure triangle geometry
  • Weight sits low and central
  • Three sizes rather than one generic shape

What doesn't

  • Removes the in-frame bottle cages
  • Suspension and cable routing can foul the fit
  • Requires measuring before purchase

Buy it if

Hardtails and adventure frames with a tall head tube

Skip it if

Your frame is a drop-bar road or gravel geometry
