Moosetreks Trail Full Frame Bag (Large) Review
The Trail is Moosetreks' full-frame bag for mountain and adventure geometry. It is the cheapest way here to fill a whole front triangle, if the frame shape suits it.
The verdictThe budget route to a full-frame bag, with real capacity for the weight. Check the size chart carefully and expect to reinforce a seam or two.
The listing gives the Large, which this link opens on, as 8.5 litres at 275 g, with a 7 litre Medium as the other option. It fills the whole front triangle, split into two compartments by a removable divider, in TPU-laminated ripstop with YKK zips. A full-frame bag carries its weight low and central, where it affects handling least.
The trade is the bottle cages, which a full-frame bag removes, so water moves to the fork, the bars or a pack. Moosetreks says the Large runs big and that this cut suits mountain and adventure frames, with a separate Road version for drop-bar geometry. Measure the triangle against the size chart before ordering, because a full-frame bag that does not match its frame sags and shifts.
The owner record is mixed on build. Amazon's review summary counted 15 negative durability mentions against 18 positive, and 19 negative zip mentions against 13, with reports of rips within a month, single-stitched seams and straps tearing loose. Moosetreks itself says water can get in through the stitching, so bag anything that must stay dry.
Owners on Amazon US gave it 4.5 stars from 371 ratings in October, with about 4 percent at one or two stars. Fit reports include a medium Surly Ogre and a small Salsa Journeyman. At $45.99 when we checked in August, it is a low price for a bag that fills the whole triangle.
