JXFUKAL Bike Trunk Bag Review

Most cheap trunk bags collapse into a sad pouch the moment they are half empty. The EVA panelling here is the reason this one still looks and works like a box.

JXFUKAL Bike Trunk Bag — Rack Commuting
The verdict

The structure is what you are paying for and it earns its keep. Line it against rain, keep the heavy things out of it, and it is an unusually well-organised rack bag for the money.

Structured sides change how a rack-top bag behaves. Soft-sided trunk bags sag over the edges of the rack, shift under braking, and make finding anything a matter of excavation; the EVA panels keep the 9.5-litre opening square, so it packs like a small case and the contents stay where you put them. That capacity is a good match for commuting with a change of clothes and lunch, or for carrying camp kitchen and food on a credit-card tour where the heavy items live lower down. The reflective strips are a genuine safety feature on a bag that sits at exactly driver eye height.

The compromises are the usual ones for the price. The polyester shell is water-resistant rather than waterproof, and the zip is unsealed, so a sustained downpour will get in — plan on a liner bag or a cover. Rack-top weight also sits high and behind the rear axle, which is the worst place on the bike for handling, so this is the right home for bulky light things and the wrong home for tools and water. And it needs a rack, which means it is irrelevant to riders committed to a rackless bikepacking setup.

What works

  • EVA panels keep the 9.5L opening square and packable
  • Contents stay organised instead of collapsing into a heap
  • Reflective strips sit at driver eye height

What doesn't

  • Water-resistant only — unsealed zip lets rain in eventually
  • Rack-top weight sits high and behind the axle
  • Requires a rear rack, so no use on a rackless setup

Buy it if

Skip it if
