AEGISMAX Nano 2 800FP Goose Down Sleeping Bag Review
The Nano 2 is Aegismax's light mummy bag, and it leaves the hood off to save weight. It is the bag to look at if you want a closed tube with a zip but think a hood is extra weight you will not use.
The verdictA light, closed down bag for mild nights. With no hood and a 5°C comfort rating, it suits summer trips better than shoulder-season ones.
The Regular Nano 2 puts 350 g of 800FP goose down into a 624 g mummy bag, and Aegismax rates it 5°C comfort and 0°C limit on its Amazon US listing. It has no hood, which Aegismax describes as the way it saves weight. In practice that means a warm hat or a down hood does the job a hood would, and the bag's rating assumes you supply one.
The shell is 15D water-resistant nylon, which is thicker than the 10D on Aegismax's Twilight quilt and the 7D on its Dusk bags, so it tolerates rougher handling. A self-sealing foot vent lets warm feet breathe without opening the zip, and the YKK zip can splice two bags into a double. Packed, Aegismax gives 15 x 25 cm, small enough for a mid-size seatpack.
The comparison that matters is inside Aegismax's own range. The Twilight quilt carries the same 350 g of 800FP down, weighs 509 g and claims 0°C comfort, because a quilt puts all its down on top and lets the pad do the underside. The Nano 2 spends roughly 115 g and five degrees of rating on being a closed bag. Owner reports on Amazon US were thin when we checked in October, 3.9 stars across 21 ratings.
