Mdvora Large Opening Hydration Bladder (2L) Review
Most bikepackers need a reservoir rarely enough that paying forty dollars for one is hard to justify, and this is the argument for the cheap version.
The verdictCorrect for occasional use and not for constant use. At eight dollars, replacing it every other season still costs less than one CamelBak.
The functional gap between a cheap bladder and an expensive one is smaller than the price gap, and it shows up in the parts rather than the bag. The bite valve, the hose connector and the seal around the fill opening are where budget reservoirs lose, and those are also the parts most likely to be the reason you replace one.
For occasional use that trade is clearly right. A reservoir that comes out twice a season and spends the rest of the year dry in a box does not accumulate the wear that separates these from the premium options, and the large fill opening means it can still be dried properly.
Owner reports at this volume are reassuring on the basics and consistent about the caveats: a plastic taste for the first few fills, and a bite valve that some riders replace with a better one. Both are known quantities rather than surprises.
The habit that matters is the same as for any reservoir. Empty it, turn it inside out, and let it dry completely before it goes away. A bladder stored damp is a bladder you will throw out, and at this price people are less careful, which is why the reports that go badly usually go badly for that reason.
