The M-Wave Rough Ride is built around one idea: at 15L in neon yellow, it is the most visible bag on this list by a wide margin, and on unlit road transitions between gravel sectors that is a safety feature rather than a styling choice. The roll-top swallows a winter sleeping bag, and reinforced internal sidewalls keep the loaded tail from drooping onto the tyre.
Check your frame before you buy it, though, because this is the constraint that decides it. The Rough Ride needs 15cm of vertical clearance between saddle rails and tyre — the most demanding figure on this page, level with the $165 Ortlieb and nearly double what the Lixada asks. On a small frame, or a bike running a 2.2in tyre, a loaded 15L bag will sit on the tread. Measure with weight on the saddle, since the gap closes as the post compresses.
The buckle straps hold the harness against the rails better than the nylon-webbing bags here, and standing sprints produce noticeably less tail wag as a result. What you do not get is waterproofing: the shell is water-resistant, so anything that must stay dry needs a liner.
At $41.65 and 590g it is the heavy, bright, high-capacity option — good value for a rider with the clearance to use it and a dry bag for the sleeping kit, and simply the wrong bag for a compact frame.
