The literal cheapest entry point into bikepacking possible. Bare-bones functionality that heavily demands smooth roads and sunny skies.
The Cartman Waterproof Mountain Bag fundamentally serves one single purpose: allowing exceptionally budget-restricted riders to attempt short bikepacking trips without investing any real capital into serious high-end gear. The basic tubular design successfully holds up to ten liters of clothing, while the heavily rubberized exterior coating performs relatively well at repelling light, intermittent drizzle and minor trail spray from damp roads. The overly simplistic mounting system aggressively utilizes three basic nylon web straps that desperately attempt to anchor the heavy load to the bicycle.
When aggressively ridden over harsh washboard gravel, this bag undeniably sways like a metronome, violently shifting the bike's center of gravity and making steep descents genuinely terrifying. The supposed waterproofing simply failed during sustained, torrential rain, allowing noticeable dampness to quietly seep into my supposedly dry sleeping gear through unsealed zipper tracks. It physically holds your gear for almost zero money, but strictly demands that you stick firmly to smooth tarmac and perfectly sunny weather.
The Verdict
The absolute cheapest bag available holds your gear physically, provided you never ride on rough gravel or in severe rain.
